The Vermillion Cliffs National Monument encompasses 294,000 acres of remote, unspoiled wilderness that features amazing geologic treasures. The sedimentary rocks millions of years in the making have eroded into fantastic and colorful formations. The monument includes the Paria plateau and canyon, Coyote Buttes, and the phantasmagorical White Pocket. The latter comprises colorful crossbedded cliffs and swirling sandstone shapes and forms.
