Denali, "The High One" in native Athabascan, is the highest peak in North America and the centerpiece of the park, Mt. McKinley. An immense park of 6 million acres, Denali remains one of the world's great wilderness frontiers. Crossed by the mountains of the Alaska Range and numerous rivers, the land is covered with tundra and taiga forest.
