Encompasing nearly 1.9 million acres of southern Utah, the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument is a vast, remote, and rugged landscape of multi-hued cliffs and canyons. The staircase is more than 6000 vertical feet of alternating cliffs and terraces extending horizontally more than 150 miles north from the Grand Canyon in Arizona to the Paunsaugunt Plateau in Utah.
