Mount Washington at 6288 feet is the tallest peak east of the Mississippi river. Its summit can be reached by a nerve-racking 8 mile drive for breathtaking views. The 23 mile long Kancamagus Scenic Byway is one of the best Fall color drives in the U.S. Several notches, which are U-shaped valleys carved by glaciers allow access to these beautiful mountains.
